 Input Device of Computer

These are those devices which are used to give data & instructions to the computer so that computer can process it and provide us necessary information. Some important input devieces are as follow:

1. Mouse:- It is a pointing device which is used to give instructions. It has basically three buttons: Left button, Right button and Scroll button. Now a days wireless mouse also in use. Maximum work is done by left button. Scroll button is used to roll page up or down.

    2. Keyboard:- It is that input device which is used to basically enter our Data. A standard Microsoft Keyboard Contains 104 keys. It contains various keys:

• Alphanumeric Keys:-  Alphabets and Number keys at same place.
• Numeric Keys:- For math Calculationsr
• Arrow Keys:- Left ,Right , UP, DOWN
• Funtional Keys:- For Specific Works
• Special Keys:- All remaining Keys.

    

    3. Joystick:- It is also a pointing type input device. It is specially Used to play games with play stations. It contains a handle In center which can move in any directions along with some Other buttons on it. It is similar to Gamepad.

    4.Trackball:- It is also a pointing type input device. It contains a ball in center which is used to move pointer on computer screen in any direction. It looks like old mouse but ball in old mouse was in bottom.

    5. Mic/Microphone :-  This Input device is used to convert our voice in electronic form so that our computer can store and process it . In simple Words we can say it send out voice to CPU.

    6. Scanner :- This device is used to scan our paper documents or image convert them in Electronic Form and then store it into computer. Later we can say use that E-document any no. of time. These are of two types Flatbed and Hand -held.

    7. Digital Camera/Webcam :- It is used to capture our photos convert it into electronic Form so that it can be stored into computer. Now a days we use this device to take photos while apply for online forms.

  8. Light Pen :- Light pen is pointing device similar to pen. It is used to select displayed Menus/ options Or draw pictures on Monitor Screen. When the tip of pen is moved over monitor screen detects the location and sends signals to CPU.

    9. OMR(Optical Mark Reader):- It is input device which scans optical marks filled with Pen or Pencil In OMR sheets in competitive exams. This device is used to speed up the process of result declaration.

10.BCR( Bar Code Reader ):- This device is used to scan Bar codes printed On different objects and then sends all information related to this code to computer. It is used in large mall while billing of multiple items purchased by customers.

    11. Q-R( Quick Respones ) code reader :- This is device scans Q-R codes printed at different places and sends information hidden in this code to computer. We can see such codes in our Aadhar Cards, or on online payment options.

    12. Biometric Scanner :- These devices are used to recongize human physiological or behavioral characteristics. We can use various biometric devices such as IRIS scanner fingerprint Scanner etc.These devices are used to verify authenticated person for security reasons.
